The Doors are overrated.
There are so many things wrong with Jim Morrison and company (most of their problems are on prominent display in the song “The End”). One of the reasons why I can’t stand classic rock radio is because of their insistence to play crap like “Light My Fire” and “Break On Through” all the damn time.
With that, I do think that there are some really great songs by The Doors. Not many, but a few. So, I’m going to rank the best songs from The Doors (and maybe I’ll say why I think they are the best in some future post. Maybe).
- “LA Woman”
- “The Soft Parade”
- “Alabama Song”
- “Peace Frog”
- “Soul Kitchen”
- “Back Door Man”
- “The Crystal Ship”
- “People are Strange”
And “20th Century Fox” isn’t bad either. But it’s not that great either.
And just to compare, the 8 worst songs from The Doors:
- “The End”
- “Light My Fire”
- “Break On Through”
- “Touch Me”
- “Hello, I Love You”
- “Love Me Two Times”
- “Love Her Madly”
- “Roadhouse Blues”
JIM MORRISON SOUNDS LIKE EVERYONE’S DAD SINGING IN THE SHOWER.
Jon Stewart pulls a full Glenn Beck. [Video]
“Take a look, if you will, at what your appendix is connected to. I mean: It’s all there! Your appendix is connected to your large intestine, which is connected to your small intestine, which is something Karl Marx had. That doesn’t seem suspicious? Because what is the small intestine connected to? Oh, I don’t know… the stomach? Which is where acorns would go if you ate them? ACORNS?! Where have we heard that name before?!”
He never broke character the entire time. This was one of Stewart’s best.
i want to watch this forever.
Fugazi - Merchandise
(Live in Austria, 1990)songsthataregoodsez:Fugazi live is very difficult to listen to for someone who has never experienced it firsthand. The constant wiping-away of tears distracts from appreciating the music, and the wails of grief really makes it hard to hear in the first place. Nonetheless (after the uncontrollable sobbing subsides), jumping around your living room in your underwear, screaming “YOU ARE NOT WHAT YOU OOOWWWWNN” has it’s own special charm.
